Elceed

610 Queensberry St, North Melbourne
Date visited: 15th December 2013

Gotta love Sundays for free parking.  Sure beats walking half an hour from the CBD.

MerlinFan and I had seen Elceed the couple of times we were at Twenty & Six Espresso and had always said one day we'd give it a try.  One day had come today.

We were shown a table around the back.  The interior of Elceed was rustic and reminiscent of a vintage, sun-filled kitchen.

MerlinFan and I both had lattes.

Cute coffee art.  Not quite sure if they were leaves but I was pretty sure I saw a heart in mine.

I chose to have the Brioche French Toast with baked apple, bacon and maple syrup.

French Toast $16.50
This was one of the thickest pairs of brioche French toasts I've had.  They were very eggy, the inside soft and almost egg custard-like.  The toasts sat like an island in a sea of maple syrup, topped off with salty bacon and slices of baked apple.  It was sweet and the serving generous - I couldn't finish it, but MerlinFan was happy to dive in.

MerlinFan had the Baked Eggs with sourdough - today's special was tomato cous cous and fetta and she added bacon.

Baked eggs $14.50, bacon $3.50
This dish was pretty average.  MerlinFan wasn't that keen on the tomato cous cous.  It tasted solely of tomato - it seemed like it needed seasoning, just something to bring out the flavour.  The eggs on the other hand, were perfectly done with nice runny yolks.

Elceed is a quaint, lesser known brunch spot in North Melbourne.  It was not overly busy for Sunday brunch and does offer decent coffees and all your usual suspects for brekkie.
